Fresh Graduate CV Sample PDF

It is usually awesome and splendid for most young graduates to leave the university system. However, a larger percentage of these vibrant youths end up getting frustrated and angry due to the taste of the stress that accompanies real-life job struggles.

Moreover, looking for a job would not have been this stressful, but an implicit study has shown that half of these graduates fail in cinching their dream job. All of these occur due to poor presentation or a lack of a good outlook in their Curriculum vitae or CV in relevance to the job in pursuit.

There are pointers that you should take note of when writing your CV in anticipation of an interview.

Pointers In Fresh Graduate CV

All of what will be stated should best be adhered to when writing a fresh graduate CV. They include:

  1. Describe your good qualities

One thing to always remember to take note of is that a fresh graduate CV can be likened to or taken as a written form of a practical marketing session on selling yourself or skills.

This just means that you cannot afford to pile up a shabby outline of your best points. Instead, you are best off carefully compiling your best qualities with a systematic approach.

You can begin from the professional ones and ensure it relates highly to the job in view. This will be an added advantage.

  1. Always start with a personal statement

The first thing that recruiters catch a glimpse of and would look out to read as it gives them a quick outlook of who they are interviewing is the personal statement in a CV.

First of all, it must be concise and precise as much as possible, at least eighty words and a maximum of one hundred and sixty words.

Then you would want to ensure to first make an introduction of your credentials strung with your good personal qualities.  Something along the lines of “I am a first-class graduate with an apt for listening, quick assessment and learning.”

After this, you can add extra notes depending on your achievements and such, especially if needed for the job.

But if otherwise, you can keep an open book statement as such:  “I am a risk-taker who looks for harder jobs to challenge and improve my skillset.”

  1. Emphasize your skills than your roles

It is not strange to find a high percentage of C.V.s listing out much of past or recent work experiences, but if you are a fresh graduate without any prior work experience, that would be the worst pattern or scheme to take when writing your CV.

Instead, you should leverage the practical skillset that you possess rather than some flimsy work experience that would not count. This is because recruiters would expect much and be intrigued more at what a young graduate with such an impressive skill set would do.

Once you have done this, you can try stringing your skillset with previous experiences. Understand that this will be the bombshell that would boost your chances and the recruiter’s perception of you.

  1. Always include other acquired auxiliary skills.

Your auxiliary skills are other personal skills that could be essential to the job, though not credentials-wise but in easing the process of work.

Skills like being bilingual or speaking multiple or foreign languages can aid in your chances of being picked in a foreign country. It also includes being digital or tech-savvy, like using a diverse range of software packages like MS-Word, AutoCAD, Adobe, and such.

You can also include the use of social media. Most young graduates ignore these skills because they feel that it is not important or needed.

Ensure that if you can also improve or do one or two little or essential jobs in the workplace, you should pen it in your fresh graduate CV. Some good skills that are highly recommended are digital programs you can use and languages you can speak.

You do not need to be much fluent in them for the languages to be vital, but an understanding of it would be enough; also, never lie about your abilities.

  1. Talk about your extra-curricular activities like they were real jobs

You were not paid for that volunteer job does not mean you did not gain management or administrative skills from it. Just because you volunteered for that charity job does not mean you did not gain business or marketing skills.

You were not paid for a job you did freely does not mean you did not gain valuable skills. So you must note to outline your volunteer roles as you would list about a job.

Some of the points to note when listing them are the duration you spent, the important jobs you did, and the skills you acquired for the time you spent there.

Most times, we would find out that even those side volunteer jobs are not far off or different from some paid jobs.

For instance, if you were to apply for the role of a marketer, your prospective employer will be happy to learn that you once sold at the community sales day for your local parish than that you worked at a factory.

  1. Ensure to polish up your degree

It is important to note that degrees are a great reference for Conveyable skills. As a young graduate, you must have written a project while in school as part of your requirements, and since you did, it is only necessary to talk about your research abilities.

For instance, now, people who would have given presentations as a feature of their degree may write that you have a great experience with pitching.

Worth mentioning are skills you also acquired via your group project work, sole organization, planning, and important knowledge essential to the job in view.

N.B. Never leave blank the section for work experience in your CV.

Always remember that the experience section in all C.V.s is meant to tell the recruiter all about your previous experience that may be essential to them.

  1. Throw in some personality spice.

It is no news that recruiters daily get multiple CV applications from several young graduates like yourself. So you will need to go the extra mile on this one if you have won any form of award or prize.

Yes, being unforgettable is an awesome boost to your chances of getting the call for an interview. However, recall that if it does not fit or tally with the job description, it is best avoided and might be stated in other interests or hobbies.

The aim is to create a memory stamp and not convince recruiters that hunting games in the safari have prepared you for the corporate world.

Always ensure that your CV is highly legible and intriguing enough to engage the recruiters’ or employers’ attention long enough till the end.

Note that you must make sure the CV is short, concise, and precise. At most, two pages, but if for lack of you have a one-paged CV  experience; it is still very much fine as most industries prefer the standard to a one-paged CV.

As far as your CV information is easy to the eyes and clearly stated, recruiters will not have a hard time fishing out the best and needed information swiftly.

Conclusion

On a broad note, if you got even more information to include in your graduate CV but for lack of space provided, you can go further to include a link to your LinkedIn profile.

Including your LinkedIn profile link is a splendid manner to have your achievements documented and readily available while keeping your CV efficient and smooth.

To finalize all, make sure to spell check and proofread your CV twice before sending it to an employer, as any mistake would spell doom to their perception of your person.

Ensure your CV is in a digitally readable format that can be accessed from any digital or mobile device.
